JOB SUMMARY:

JOB DUTIES: 

Department of Child Safety (DCS) Specialist Trainee - $33,312*

 

Applicant possessing previous experience as a DCS Specialist in Arizona or another State may be placed a higher salary as determined by Human Resources

 

Under direct supervision in a training capacity, performs a variety of tasks at the professional entry level in child protective case management.  Provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families and performs related work as required.  Employees remain in this position for 22 weeks.  Promotion automatically occurs after 22 weeks to the DCS Specialist if employee is meeting expectations.

 

Requires Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, OR Five (5) years of experience as a DCS Case Aide II in Arizona state service.

 

 

DCS Specialist  - $36,824 – $40,641

 

*After one year of service as a DCS Specialist, salary will be increased to $40,641 if employee is meeting expectations

 

Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks in child protective case management and provides direct or indirect assistance to children and the families. This position is distinguished from the DCS Trainee by greater emphasis on case management/case complexity and a higher level of authority assigned. This position may assume investigative responsibilities.

 

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S): 

In-state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, required to maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

 

Employees may be required to use their own transportation, as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration.  Mileage will be reimbursed when this occurs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

-          The ideal candidate will possess computer experience, which includes Windows applications, and excellent writing skills.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Subject to a search of the Department of Child Safety Central Registry and maintain clearance throughout employment

-          Required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DCS requirements for a Level One card

-          Must pass an oral interview and writing exam

-          Favorable background and employment reference checks

-          For valid Arizona driver license holders, a copy of your three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report will be required

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
