Adult Protective Services Case Aide

The Division of Aging and Adult Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Adult Protective Services Case Aide.

The position is responsible for supporting staff in the Adult Protective Services (APS) Program, assisting with casework activity as directed by the Human Services Specialist (HSS) and Human Services Unit Supervisor (HSUS). 



-          Assists in making decisions and gathering information about APS clients, referrals for community support services and/or assisting clients by providing resources for alternative housing or placement in different types of settings

-          Receives, prioritizes and schedules case related assignments to achieve case plan goals

-          Coordinates services and advocates for clients by contacting agencies and service providers

-          Provides transportation either in a state owned or private vehicle of destinations, i.e., medical appointments, delivering case related documents, delivering food boxes and/or medications

-          Conducts client visits as necessary

-          Observes and gathers information and advises HSS and/or HSUS of case progress and problems that may arise related to client services

-          Documents and prepares progress notes in the computerized client information database system

-          May be required to provide testimony in court

-          Purchases emergency services for the client using the Procurement Card (P-Card), Payment Voucher or a PAAR check if the vendor does not accept the P-Card or refuses to wait for payment via the Payment Voucher

-          Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory training as required

-          Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

-          Learn and adhere to Adult protective services policies, principles and practices

-          Set priorities to plan and manage a varied workload

-          Plan and outline procedures

-          Organize and assemble resources

-          Assist the frail elderly and/or individuals with diminished mental capabilities

-          Operate a motor vehicle

-          Track data and input information into a database

-          Utilize other software as needed


-          The combination of knowledge, skills and abilities needed are acquired through a combination of training and two (2) years of on the job experience and in-service training, bilingual preferred


-          In-state travel may be required for State business.  Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspensions or revocations and less than 8 points on your license

-          If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required PRIOR to driving for State business

-          Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed

-          A Level One Clearance Card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety is required to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, in accordance with A.R.S.41-1968. A Level One Clearance Card can be applied for upon acceptance of a job offer

-          Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services Central Registry and the Adult Protective Services Registry

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
