JOB SUMMARY:

The Division of Aging and Adult Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Adult Protective Services Unit Supervisor.

The position is responsible for supervising a unit of Adult Protective Services (APS) Investigators.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Supports staff to ensure compliance with internal policy and procedures, Administrative Rules and Regulations within APS statues

-          Provides community awareness and education regarding APS roles and responsibilities

-          Identifies and resolves case related issues

-          Prepares and completes reports and correspondence

-          Meets with staff to assist with identifying necessary modifications and makes changes to work flow or procedures

-          Perform supervisory duties

-          Evaluates and prepares annual performances

-          Attends and facilitates meetings

-          Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Principles and practices of case management, methodology and guardianship of adults

-          Aging and adult resources, programs, agencies, organizations, social economic and political conditions affecting the targeted population

-          Effective methods and techniques of managing a unit and team building

-          Social, intellectual and behavioral problems of vulnerable or incapacitated adults

-          Aging process and counseling techniques

Skill in:

-          Verbal and written communication

-          Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships

-          Assessing and evaluating community and public policy

-          Analyzing and assessing statistical data and reports

-          Management and supervisory techniques

Ability to:

-          Work with adults at risk and to interact with various ethnic groups within the community

-          Learn and adhere to APS statues, administrative rules & regulations and internal policy & procedures regarding reports of abuse neglect and/or exploitation of vulnerable adults

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

-          Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology or related field

-          A minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing and/or implementing social services programs for adults and/or the frail and vulnerable elderly

-          Bilingual able, to speak, read and write English/Spanish/Other foreign languages

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          In-state travel may be required for State business.  Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license

-          If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required PRIOR to driving for State Business

-          Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed

-          A Level One Clearance Card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety is required to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, in accordance with A.R.S.41-1968.  A Level Once Clearance Card can be applied for upon acceptance of a job offer

-          Be subject to a search of Child Protective Services Central Registry and the Adult Protective Services Registry

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all new hired State employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks.  Employment is contingent upon completion of the above mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
