Database Administrator

Location: Phoenix

Compensation:  DOE up to $95,000 + Excellent Benefits, work life/balance, and a stable work environment

The Arizona State Retirement System, a dynamic statewide pension plan with approximately $40 billion in assets, is seeking an experienced Database Administrator within its Technology Services Division to carry out the following responsibilities:


  • Participating in departmental policies for DBA functions covering the entire life cycle of application development and production support
  • Participating in tactical service plans for business units and service areas
  • Coordinating all business/developer requests for database development
  • Creating department goals based upon overall division and agency goals
  • Performance tuning of databases and application systems
  • Working with developers and testers on in-house application systems

Working knowledge of:

  • Oracle RAC and ASM (12c)
  • Linux and shell scripting
  • Oracle installations, upgrades, patching, performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • RMAN backup and recovery
  • Data Guard
  • SQL and PL/SQL

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience as Oracle DBA
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Data Masking
  • Oracle Partitioning
  • Oracle Transparent Data Encryption
  • Working closely with development teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
