JOB SUMMARY:

The Clean Elections Commission (CEC) Voter Education Specialist (VES) will provide consultative services, technical guidance and administrative expertise to executive staff, candidates and Arizona Voters.  The VES will provide technical assistance to candidates and interested parties for campaign finance software systems, training, agency publications, presentations, tracking/analyzing legislative bills and maintaining candidate databases.  The VES will specialize and assist the Voter Education Director with implementing a statewide voter education campaign, including facilitation of all legislative & statewide candidate debates, voter education outreach events, programs and projects.

 

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Providing direct oversight of assigned projects and programs for Voter Education, Administration & Enforcement divisions
  • Conducting compliance reviews, reports & presentations to executive team of established programs for conformity to agency standards of Voter Education, Administration & Enforcement programs
  • Conferring with personnel/officials of other agencies and stakeholders such as the 15 Arizona County Recorders, Secretary of State, Statewide & Legislative Officials and other interested election related entities to meet agency mission goals
  • Serving on various committees, evaluation teams, ad hoc work or advisory groups; compiling and presenting reports and presentation upon requests
  • Providing and attending training upon request, such as SOS Elections Certification, Campaign Finance and Candidate Training Workshops
  • Providing voter registration and voter education services at outreach events
  • Answering general questions on elections, voter registration, and campaign finance from the public, candidates, treasurers, and voters
  • Assisting with maintaining lobbyist registrations and other duties as assigned
  • Assisting with maintaining website and social media content and responding to customer inquiries
  • Coordinate with the agency’s vendors to facilitate voter education efforts, including reviewing and proofing marketing materials and concepts, debates, logistics and quality assurance testing on digital tools and resources

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, election and campaign finance laws, and social media and website skills.  Your knowledge of the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Act, Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 16 (Election Law), concepts of program planning & design, project management and problem solving techniques will enable you to provide excellent customer service.  Your strong written and oral communication skills will compliment your comprehensive technical skills as your analyze and interpret programmatic data.  Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to work well with executive leadership, commissioners, government officials and agencies and the public.  Strong public speaking skills and an energetic personality will enable you to successfully interact with voters and stakeholders.  Successful candidate must be able to obtain an Arizona Notary Public Commission upon hire.

 

NOTE: The VES, under general direction, will be directly responsible for the creation and/or revision of assigned training and promotional materials; design, development, implementation and evaluation of various agency programs having considerable statewide & legislative demographics; public interest and agency best practices that supports the mission of the agency to educate & inform Arizona Voters re the electoral process, the Clean Elections Act & Arizona Campaign Finance laws. 

*Traveling may be required to attend candidate sponsored debates and/or outreach events.

 

 

 

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
