We are looking for engineers to help drive our agency towards accomplishing our vision.  This position will be directly responsible for project management including assisting the Remedial Projects Unit manager develop strategic plans, evaluate and update conceptual site models, recommend strategies for accelerating site cleanups, coordinating with remediation contractors and developing and maintaining performance measures for remedies, and contaminated site closure. You will also independently facilitate scopes of work for multiple sites, while interacting with the public and contractors.  Salary for this position starts out at $58K and goes up depending on experience and education.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

 

Ideal candidate will possess:

·         Bachelor’s degree in environmental, chemical, civil, or other engineering discipline, with practical experience in environmental engineering and hydrogeology or environmental science.

·         OSHA 40 hour Hazwoper preferred.

·         Level 2: Requires 2 years’ experience (Master’s or Doctorate degree may substitute for 2 years of experience). Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification through the AZ Board of Technical Registration or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction preferred.

·         Level 3: Requires 5 years’ experience (Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience; Doctorate can substitute for 4 years of experience). Professional Engineering (PE) certification through the AZ Board of Technical Registration or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction required.

·         Knowledge of subsurface contaminant remediation, Feasibility Studies, remedial design, and the CERCLA process; wide range of knowledge with various contaminant constituents including fuels and VOCs; knowledge of landfills, groundwater plumes, system operation and maintenance, vapor intrusion; principles of ground and surface water flow; principles of fate and transport of chemicals in ground and surface water; State and Federal environmental regulations.

·         Ability to understand and apply environmental rules and statues; to follow guidance documents, standard operating procedures, and other technical instructions in performance of tasks; balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks and complete assignments by applicable deadlines; to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports; remedial engineering cost estimates, remediation design calculations for mass removal, and to summarize completed tasks and/or monitoring data orally and in written communication
