The Department of Economic Security is seeking an experienced and highly-motivated individual to join our team as a Case Manager 2, with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). This position is responsible for serving members with developmental disabilities, e.g., Autism, Cerebral Palsy, or an Intellectual Disability (for example, Down Syndrome), Epilepsy, etc., and their families.

What does a DDD Case Manager 2 do? They manage an ongoing caseload, gathering all necessary information and documentation for determining eligibility (and/or re-determining eligibility) for a variety of services, ensuring that members have all of the resources they need to maximize their potential, and have the highest possible quality of life. Case management begins with respect for the member's preferences, interests, needs, culture, language, and belief system. The case manager works with the member, their family members, and care professionals, as a team to review the member's strengths/needs and develop a plan to help the member reach his/her goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-          Knowledge in methods, procedures, and techniques used in the development of Individual Support Plans (ISP).

-          Knowledge in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

-          Knowledge in Medical and behavioral health issues and terminology.

-          Skills in oral and written communication.

-          Skills in interpersonal relations as applied to contacts with members and representatives of other governmental and community organizations and the public.

-          Skills in the use of various software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).

-          Ability to work independently and within diverse work teams.

-          Ability to absorb, interpret, and assimilate large quantities of written material.

-          Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Licenses and Certifications:

-          Employee shall have a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-2758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults. It is not required that candidates have a fingerprint clearance card at the time of application, but they must obtain one as a condition of an offer of employment. The Talent Acquisition Specialist assigned to this requisition will assist qualified candidates regarding this process.

-          If the position is required to drive on state business, the position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).


-          Candidate must meet one or more of the following requirements:

1)      Two (2) years of case management experience serving the elderly, persons with physical or developmental disabilities, or persons determined to have a Serious Mental Illness (SMI)

2)      An Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing

3)      A Bachelor's or Master's degree with a Major or Minor in Social Work

4)      A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, or Counseling, AND one (1) year of case management, defined as human service related experience requiring care coordination across service delivery systems and work involving assessing, evaluating and monitoring services for individuals with special health care needs related but not limited to conditions such as physical and/or intellectual disabilities, aging, physical and/or behavioral health disorders, and substance use disorder.

-          All candidates must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.

-          All candidates must successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

-          All candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804, and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459
