 JOB SUMMARY

 

The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking to fill two full-time videographer/video producer positions. This position will: produce videos; shoot video in the field, indoor locations and in studio; edit video in-house on edit system; be responsible for production elements such as selection of video and audio and creating graphics; operate and maintain video editing software, hardware and network devices; create still photography that includes field work and studio shoots (headshots, group shots, events) in a variety of lighting and other conditions.

 

The videographer/video producer will report to the Assistant Director of Communications for Creative Services and will coordinate projects with the Video Team and Video project manager. This position serves as a key resource and collaborates with all levels of agency staff to develop and produce a variety of media programs that inform and educate the public, stakeholders and other governmental agencies about ADOT projects and services as well as documents the agency's activities. This position performs a variety of functions including research, script writing, production scheduling, video equipment operation, lighting and prop staging, digital video camera operations, audio recording, graphics and video editing using non-linear digital editing equipment. 

 

While this position is primarily responsible for producing video and still images, the videographer/video producer will also serve as an integral member of the Communications/Creative Service teams and be expected to support and collaborate creatively on multiple outreach projects and campaigns.

Day or overnight traveling will be required, in addition to flexible hours involving occasional nighttime shoots.

 

All candidates must submit a link to an online demo reel of their video production work. Review and scoring of the demo reel will determine if candidate

will be called in for an interview, in addition to resume review.

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Knowledge in

  • Quality standards and regulations relating to video production and the television/broadcasting industry
  • Current video production techniques and technologies
  • Legal restrictions with regard to use of talent and copyrights
  • Staging studio and backgrounds for video productions
  • State and federal administrative policies and procedures and communications regulations.
  • Basic mathematical computations
  • Compression and networking technologies

 

Skills in

  • Use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite— with an emphasis on Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Media Encoder
  • ENG field cameras and the P2 format
  • Operation and  maintenance of video and related equipment and systems
  • Basic design and installation of video systems
  • Operation of GoPros and DSLRs
  • Designing and lighting sets/studios and backgrounds for video production

 

Ability to

  • Compose and shoot HD video footage
  • Create and edit audio and video elements
  • Manage all phases of video production
  • Verbal, written and visual communication
  • Effectively create visual effects and graphic composition and design
  • Adapt to diverse needs and scheduling changes
  • Work independently and within teams
  • Maintain a flexible schedule and be willing and able to travel overnight
  • Meet physical requirements

 

 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Combination of education or training from an accredited college or university in Communication, Journalism, Broadcasting, Video Production, or related area of study, plus two years of experience in news operations or in video production including script writing, visualization, video acquisition (field and studio), lighting techniques, staging, directing and coaching of talent, video editing and creating graphics.

 

Experience in news and long-format productions.

 

Government agency experience.

 

Experience with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

 

Ability to create simulations and/or animations.

 

Knowledge of NPPA style, experience in captioning of videos.

 

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

 

Position requires passing of pre-employment physical AND possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.  Candidates for this position must complete page and sign PART 1 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.   Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
