The Department of Economic Security Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Rehabilitation Services Technician. This position is responsible to provide potential applicants with a basic overview of Vocational Rehabilitation, arrange for an office orientation session and completes initial interviews. Works closely with clients to inform them of appointments, assist them in contacting and working with vendors and how to utilize community resources.  Rehabilitation Services Technician disseminates information to clients, vendors and providers as well as keeps the VR Counselor informed of relevant information regarding their caseload, maintains case documentation with up to date information, and provides support to the VR Counselor in assisting with issues that develop on their caseload.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-          Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations in regard to provision of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities

-          Knowledge of guidelines and best practices of the Vocational Rehabilitation program, a variety of disabilities

-          General knowledge of disabling medical conditions, and available community resources. 

-          Required skills are to observe behaviors with regard to possible employment and employment expectations, assist in caseload management/maintain up-to-date progress notes with data entry into the Libera automated information system

-          Skills in problem solving and decision making

-          Skills in work management and work leadership

-          Skills in interviewing and eliciting information; provide information, solve problems and make decisions, motivating and achieving goals

-          Skills in performing medical/psychological vocational data analysis; evaluating, interpreting and observing behavioral impact on potential employment opportunities or to independent living

-          Assist with case management in Libera; communicate verbally and in writing; establish and maintain a good working relationship with disabled persons, including blindness and visual impairment, team members, service providers, advocates, consultants, employers and service providers

-          Skills in teaching various independent living skills to persons with disabilities, including blindness and visual impairment, advising and training special interest groups, representatives, and general public on the needs of persons

-          Ability to communicate and have a good working relationship with individuals being served through Vocational Rehabilitation, co-workers, vendors and employers

-          Ability to prioritize, assign and review work; effective utilization of resources

-          Ability to resolve issues; provide information to customers, providers, community organizations and agencies

-          Ability to evaluate and assist the VR Counselor in managing their caseload; establish and maintain effective working relationships. 

-          Ability to collect assessment information needed for the VR Counselor to determine eligibility of applicant, monitor client progress, input client data into Libera automated system

-          Ability to research, prepare letters

Licenses and Certifications:

-          Applicants for this position shall be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry. 

-          Applicants for this position will required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card.

-          An Associates of Arts/Sciences or Applied Sciences in a discipline related to human services; or 21 semester hours in a discipline related to human services and one year experience in a vocational rehabilitation or Independent Living program; or

-          A High School diploma or GED and two years experience in a vocational rehabilitation or independent living program; or

-          Three years experience in an organized program providing services to Individuals with disabilities.

-          Completion of a certificate program in disability awareness, social services, substance abuse or other behavioral services field from an accredited college substitutes for one year of experience.

-          Valid Arizona drivers licenses required. In-state travel is required. This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Qualifications:

-          Experience in working with persons with disabilities.

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
