JOB SUMMARY

 

The Registrar of Contractors (ROC) Licensing Department oversees 38,000 active construction licenses for the State of Arizona.  This fast-paced unit processes new license applications, change requests, cancellations, reinstatements, suspensions and all other actions regarding construction licenses.  Along with processing licensing documents, the department also provides assistance to licensed contractors and members of the public in person and over the phone.

 

The Assistant Chief of Licensing is a leadership position within the department.  This position will report to the Chief of Licensing and manages a team of Customer Service Representatives.

 

Job Duties include:

 

- Supervise a team of 5-8 customer service representatives

  (performance management, work assignments, training, etc.)

- Recommend and implement process improvements. 

- Manage work flow and priorities for the team.  

- Resolve escalated customer questions and provides guidance and direction to

  team members as needed.

- Coordinate agency actions with other departments such as Legal and Compliance.

- Promote a positive image of the agency to license applicants, licensees and the public.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

-  Knowledge of Registrar of Contractors processes and functions.

-  1-3 year’s customer service experience in an office setting.

   (A higher educational degree may be used to meet this preference.)

-  Experience with leading or supervising other employees.

-  Training or experience in business management and practices.

-  Work experience in an environment where laws, statutes and rules

   guide decisions.

-  Ability to make decisions in a complex and subjective environment.
