The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as Building Maintenance Specialist at the Arizona Training Program in Coolidge (ATPC).  Working under general direction, the Building Maintenance Specialist performs skilled duties in the installation, inspection, maintenance, remodel, and repair of ATPC facilities. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-          General knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and building codes.

-          Knowledge of structural components of buildings and related utility services systems.

-          Skill in analyzing and determining proper use, maintenance, and security of tools, equipment and materials.

-          Skill in reading and interpreting basic blueprints, schematics, and sketches.

-          Skill in estimating cost and ordering materials.

-          Ability to apply and demonstrate generalized preventive maintenance, repair, remodeling, construction methods and practices.

-          Ability to work independently and as a productive team member.

-          Ability to work under adverse conditions, stand or walk for long periods of time, and climb ladders.

-          Ability to prepare clear and concise records and reports.

-          Ability to construct items from various materials and use various tools in the completion of work.

-          Ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems, identify solutions and complete appropriate repairs.

-          Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communicate with others in a professional manner.

Licenses and Certifications:

-          This position is required to drive on state business and will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Qualifications:

-          Minimum two years’ experience performing general building maintenance work, preferably in various building maintenance fields, or four years’ experience in a commercial setting.

-          Obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card.

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees.

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned processes and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
