The Department of Economic Security (DES) Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services’ (DERS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Apprenticeship Training Representative. This position will work closely and take direction from the Registered Apprenticeship Program Lead with the following responsibilities: Assist with administration, development and monitoring of the Registered Apprenticeship Program; with registration and documentation of apprentices and program sponsors; update the electronic data system under the direction of the program lead; respond to error reports; assist with compliance reviews and preparing reports; research and update program standards; prepare written updates and slide presentation; develop  and update forms. Interpret programmatic policy and procedures, respond to policy questions and provide technical assistance to internal and external customers; research program policies and procedures; evaluate program progress; consult with training providers and staff, maintaining the State’s Eligible Training Provider list on issues related to policy and procedures; review, maintain, and update website content pertaining to Registered Apprentice Program listings; attend meetings and participate in work groups; participate in federal webinars and review news and federal program updates.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-          Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing the Arizona Apprenticeship Program, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, as well as other workforce development programs.

-          Knowledge of departmental policy and procedures.

-          Knowledge of principles of documentation, service delivery practices and needs of clientele and stakeholders.

-          Knowledge of apprenticeship career and technical education and/or adult training programs.

-          Skilled in oral and written communication including public speaking and participation in meetings.

-          Skilled in researching, problem solving and decision making.

-          Skilled in interpersonal relations.

-          Skilled in the interpretation and application of state and federal laws and regulations.

-          Skilled in organizing and analytical techniques.

-          Skilled in use of office equipment and computer applications to assist with the development of materials, such as word processing, presentation software, and databases.

-          Ability to work independently and in teams.

-          Ability to resolve problem related issues.

-          Ability to relate amicably with co-workers and the public.

-          Ability to provide quality customer service.

-          Ability to gather, coordinate and analyze data recommend effective means of improving organization and operating procedures.

-          Ability to prioritize work assignments; operation office equipment.

-          Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy of products.

Licenses and Certifications:

-          Arizona Level 1 Clearance Card

-          The position is required to drive on state business, the position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Qualifications:

-          Knowledge of workforce development principles and issues, to include the Workforce Investment Act and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act

-          More than 3 years’ experience with technical writing and policy development; knowledge of case management principles; knowledge of basic project management principles.

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
