Job Description

ADOT’s TSM&O Division is responsible for operating, maintaining and optimizing the State’s transportation system in order to enhance the safety and mobility for all roadway users.  This position is the point person to prepare construction smoothness and incentive/disincentive report. Verifies the pavement construction project information including start and end mileposts and offsets, lane number, and exceptions to process profile files to calculate the international roughness index (IRI). The employee verifies and reviews treatment/construction types, plans, special provisions, IRI, formulas, equations, and target values to calculate incentive/disincentive amount. Works with the districts and the customers to schedule smoothness testing and resolve issues. Checks pavement condition data and QC plans submitted by data collection contractor. The position performs filed inspections to review potential pavement projects. This employee will run pavement management system; analyze pavement treatment needs, life cycle cost, and benefit-cost ratio; and assist with priority programs.

AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT

·         Prepares construction smoothness and incentive/disincentive report.

·         Verifies the pavement construction project information for processing profile files to calculate international roughness index and the incentive or disincentive amounts.

·         Checks pavement condition data and QC plans submitted by data collection contractor.

·         Performs filed inspections to review potential pavement projects.

·         Runs pavement management system; analyze pavement treatment needs, life cycle cost, and benefit-cost ratio; and assist with priority programs.

·         Manages databases and pavement management system.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Education- Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field accompanied by additional courses taken in Computer Sciences or Information Management

Experience- Experience in database

REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION

·         Must be a registered Professional Engineer (Civil Engineering preferred) in the State of Arizona or eligible for reciprocity.

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.  Candidates for this position must complete page 5 the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.  Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
