The Department of Economic Security Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Rehabilitation Service Technician. The Rehabilitation Service Technician is responsible to provide potential applicants with a basic overview of Vocational Rehabilitation services, arrange for an office orientation session and completes initial interviews. The Rehabilitation Technician disseminates information to clients, vendors and providers as well as keeps the counselor informed of relevant information regarding their caseload.  This individual provides support to counselors by assisting with obtaining information used to determine eligibility, plan appropriate services, and address client issue.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-          Knowledge of Federal and State laws, statutes, rules, regulations pertaining to the provision of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities

-          Knowledge of guidelines and best practices of the Vocational Rehabilitation program, a variety of disabilities, general knowledge of disabling medical conditions, and available community resources.

-          Knowledge of various computer software programs, to include Microsoft Office Suite, internet applications, and email.

-          Skills in observing behaviors with regards to possible employment and employment expectations.

-          Skills in assisting in case load management and data entry into automated information system.

-          Skills in maintain up-to-date progress notes in case file, problem solving and decision making, written and verbal communication skills

-          Ability to prioritize work, assign and review work, provide information to customers, providers, community organizations and agencies.

-          Ability in evaluate and assist the VR Counselor in managing their caseload.

-          Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

-          Ability to collect assessment information needed for the VR Counselor to determine eligibility of applicant.

-          Ability to research, prepare letters for the VR Counselor's signature.

Licenses and Certifications:

-          A Level One Clearance Card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety is required to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, in accordance with A.R>S.41-1968

-          Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all new hired State employees 

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions

-          The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle.

Qualifications:

-          An Associates of Arts or Sciences or Applied Sciences in a discipline related to human services; or 21 semester hours in a discipline related to human services and one year experience in a vocational rehabilitation or independent living program; or A High School diploma or GED and (2) two years of experience in a vocational rehabilitation or independent living program; or (3) three years of experience in an organized program providing services to individuals with disabilities.

-          Completion of a certificate program in disability awareness, social services, substance abuse or other behavioral services field from an accredited college substitutes for (1) one year of experience.
