JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for conducting Team Decision Making (TDM) meetings on a full-time basis.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Conducts TDM meetings on a full-time basis

-          Facilitates time-limited, outcome-focused meetings which include youth,  family, extended family, caregivers, community representatives, service providers and agency staff

-          Guides meeting participants through discussion of concerns, identification of strengths, and development of ideas to reach consensus regarding the least restrictive, best possible placement-related decision while in care and post care

-          Gives assistance and support to family members, assigned social worker and others

-          Records details accurately, sharing a written summary at the conclusion of every meeting with participants

-          Provides timely documentation of meetings, using automated database and participate in regular self-evaluation of the TDM process

-          Provides regular feedback and advocate for system improvements that support best practice and policy development

Knowledge of:

-          Group processes and ability to respectfully lead diverse and multi-cultural groups toward resolution in an emotionally charged environment

-          Traditional and non-traditional services

-          Child welfare programs

-          Agency policies, laws, and best practice principles in child welfare

 

Skill in:

-          Verbal and written communication

-          Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships

-          Assessing risk, safety planning, and case planning with the goal of providing protection and safety, preserving families and promoting timely permanency

-          Negotiation, collaboration and conflict management

-          Strengths-based, solution-focused and family-centered practice

Ability to:

-          Demonstrate commitment to agency’s mission, values and core belief

-          Interpret and apply agency policies, procedures, rules and regulations

-          Establish and maintain effective working relations with individuals, groups, and representatives of other organizations

-          Explain to participants, decision making tools, agency policies, laws, court process, etc.

-          Model professional interactions, provide leadership and guidance, and share constructive feedback to ensure continual quality improvement

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S): 

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

 

Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed

 

Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the  DCS Central Registry

 

Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

-          Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of DCS Specialist experience

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
