The Department of Economic Security Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Program Service Evaluator 3 for the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program. This position is responsible for providing services to disabled, and economically disadvantage veterans. As well as veterans with significant barriers to employment especially homeless veterans, long term Unemployment Insurance clients, recently separated veterans, and veterans with employment barriers. This position will allow you to travel to many different organizations locally. Make a difference to in fellow veterans’ lives.

Job Duties:

-        Interview/ conduct an assessment with veterans with significant barriers to employment to obtain information about job skills, education, training and qualifications to identify employment barriers.

-        Assist in completing self-registration, identify appropriate workshops and inform veterans of other services available to assist them to transition into the workforce.

-        Develop action plans and document all services for any veterans with significant barriers to employment and/or eligible spouse that are seen.

-        Provide intensive services to include: Career guidance, coordinate supportive services, job development, referrals to training opportunities, and referrals to job openings.

-        Performs outreach to employers to promote the hiring of veterans, job development, and follows up on job referrals and veterans hired.

-        Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions to enhance services to veterans, productivity, knowledge, and professionalism.

-        Travel is required to conduct outreach activities at a variety of sites including, but not limited to: Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment programs, Homless Veterans' Reintigration Program grantees, Department of Veteran Affairs medical centers Vet Centers, Homeless shelters, Civic and service-organizations, community Stand Downs, Military Installations, Workforce Investment Act partners, State Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-        Basic Interviewing techniques

-        Customer Service techniques

-        Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint

-        Writing, reading, comprehension

-        Accessing resources to refer clients

-        Defusing difficult client situations

-        Develop working knowledge of local offices policies and procedures

-        Document customer services using personal computers, internet, and computer software

 

Licenses and Certifications:

-        Must be a service-connected disabled veteran with other then a dishonorable military discharge, and have a DD214 and Veterans Administration rating letter

-        High School Diploma or equivalent

-        Must be able to obtain an AZ State Fingerprint Clearance Card

Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card.

-        If the position is required to drive on state business, the position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Qualifications:

-        Working with military veterans preferred

-        Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-        Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
