The Department of Economic Security Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Wage Auditor. This position is responsible to contact the employers by telephone or in person to obtain any outstanding responses and clarify the purpose of wages being examined. Notify the employer of the importance of responding to audit notices and the impact it may have on their experience rating accounts. Conduct wage audits of selected unemployment insurance claims to determine whether accuracy of payments made on the bases of Arizona Law and Policy.

 

This position is part of the Program Service Evaluator (PSE) series.

PSE 3 - $16.1357

The Program Service Evaluator 3 must have a minimum of one (1) year UI experience and the responsibility for serving as an expert performing lead responsibilities.

PSE1- $13.6754

The Program Service Evaluator 1 is the entry for the series.

Job Duties:

-          Contact employers to request information on wages earned and to improve communication of overpayments either in person or by telephone to encourage a better communication between DES and employers

-          Conduct assigned wage audits to determine accuracy of payments

-          Completes daily/monthly/weekly reports as assigned, including workload status reports

-          Review UI payment history against wages reported by the claimant and/or employer to determine whether proper payment was made

-          Conduct fact finding report when requested by the claimant. Process appeal decisions completed data entry into specific programs to show outcomes of responses received.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-          Knowledge of gathering information through telephone or mail to determine outcomes

-          Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Gmail, and Excel Programs

-          Knowledge of answering high volume of calls

-          Knowledge of preparing reports to identify daily work assignments and completeness of cases assigned

-          Knowledge of conducting comparisons to determined further action

-          Above average verbal and writing skill

-          Organization and time management skills

-          The ability to work independently with only minimal supervision

-          The ability in using the internet to locate employer contact information

-          The ability to compare documents to determine required action

-          Ability to work well with others

-          Ability to provide excellent customer service to external customers

 

Licenses and Certifications:

-          High School Diploma or equivalent

-          If the position is required to drive on state business, the position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

 

Qualifications:

-          Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

-          Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

 

Selective Preferences:

-          At least one (1) year experience in customer service and handling outgoing or incoming telephone inquiries or in person.
