JOB SUMMARY:

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

LOCATION ALERT:  This position is located at the Arizona State Prison Complex - Lewis which is located between Buckeye and Gila Bend; this is 55 miles from central Phoenix.

This position routinely performs duties associated with repairing, testing, evaluating, adjustment, installation, preventative maintenance, and calibration replacement of electronic components associated with different systems and/or pieces of equipment (to include but limited to cameras, monitors, Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS), fire alarms, audio/video equipment).

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Builds and tests electronic circuitry for operations and control of transmitters and associated circuitry

-          Designs and builds special purpose mechanical parts

-          Wires and oversees the wiring of complicated electronic control system

-          Prepares reports and maintains records

-          Orders parts and equipment needed to perform duties

-          Inspects, maintains, and accounts for tools and equipment to ensure proper working order

-          Works with electro-mechanical and pneumatic door systems

-          Supervises inmate workers

-          Attends meetings and training

-          Drives on State business

-          Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

 

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S) – THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED:

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Principles and practices of maintaining and operating electronic transmitting equipment

-          Electro-mechanical and pneumatic door systems, sensors, and security devices

-          Rewiring and testing equipment

 

Skill in:

-          Written and verbal communications

-          Interpersonal relations

-          Determining defects in electronic equipment

-          Repairing, replacing, installing, calibrating, and adjusting electronic components associated with diverse equipment within the facility

 

Ability to:

-          Work in a prison environment

-          Learn and adhere to Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) policies and procedures

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S) - IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

-          Two year course work in electronics

-          Three years of experience in electronic maintenance and repair

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test*.
