We are looking for hydrogeologists to help drive our agency towards accomplishing our vision. We need our hydrogeologists to be versatile, forward thinking problem solvers, and have a passion and drive to improve processes using lean skills and techniques. 

As a member of a creative, motivated and talented team, you will be assisting the Water Quality Groundwater Unit to research the quantity, quality, and availability of groundwater; analyze hydrogeological data and interpret analytical results; and study the fate and transport of environmental pollution in groundwater. Conducts risk analyses of groundwater vulnerability including evaluation, costing and implementation of site remediation in the State of Arizona.

 

Primary Duties include:

·         Review environmental technical program documents and applications.

·         Perform environmental calculations.

·         Review and prepare hydrologic maps.

·         Interpret trends in hydrologic and environmental data.

·         Provide assistance to the regulated community, staff, and the public.

·         Review or prepare hydrogeological models to analyze pollutant fate and transport.

·         Permit drafting and project management.

   

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

·         Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geology (with hydrogeology emphasis), Earth science, Biology or Law

·         Level 2:  2-4 years of experience (Master’s degree or Doctorate may substitute for 2 years experience).  Professional Geologist certification through the Arizona Board of Technical Registration or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction preferred

·         Level 3: 5 years’ of experience (Master’s may substitute for 2 years of experience; Doctorate for 4 years of experience).  Professional Geologist certification through the Arizona Board of Technical Registration or an equivalent organization in a reciprocal jurisdiction preferred

·         Driver's license - Possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks. Must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12
