The Dispatch Supervisor under General Supervision, the Traffic Operations Center Dispatch Manager, supervises the performance of three to four dispatchers while performing highly technical work in the Traffic Operations Center.


Additional Duties Include:


·         Coordinates the incident management effort within the shift to assist DPS, local police and other emergency response agencies

·         Operate two-way radio and paging system to call out ADOT Incident Response Unit and other ADOT field personnel where needed and to receive communication

·         Monitors CCTV cameras, VMS, scanners, electronic sensors, I-10 deck park tunnel TMS, and truck escape ramp monitors

·         Responsible for scheduling work days for the shift, writing a shift schedule for the TOC Dispatch Manager, maintaining adequate coverage/staffing of dispatchers during a shift

·         Meets with team members/dispatchers regarding their MAPs, evaluates team members/dispatchers on their work and performance, grants/approves leave requests and ETEs, schedules training and conducts 1:1 coaching

·         Documents statewide incidents the Motorola Flex CAD and written reports, reviews dispatcher entries and enters events and crash info, reviews all types of entries and reports for accuracy



Knowledge of:

·         State Highway System, Contact procedures, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions and testing and scoring procedures


Skills in:


·         Shift scheduling, operating multiple computer applications, problem solving and personnel issue resolution

·         Report writing


Ability to:


·         Multi-task managing stressful traffic related incidents/events, ability to read maps, work weekend and holidays if needed, Flexibility to work various schedules

·         Obtain Terminal Operator Certification Level D (TOC D)



Radio dispatching, Computer experience with Google, Window, Excel and similar applications. Emergency response and traffic monitoring

Familiarity with Arizona roadways

Dispatch and law enforcement background helpful
