Job Description

This position performs professional level tasks associated with insurance, indemnification, and contractual risk transfer issues. Negotiate risk transfer terms and conditions. Review, revise and negotiate Intergovernmental Agreements, P3 agreements, JPA agreements, third-party contracts, and vendor contracts. Conduct high level contractual reviews and analysis to produce complex reports and matrix. Ensure compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes and the Arizona Administrative Code.

  JOB SUMMARY

This position performs professional level tasks associated with insurance, indemnification, and contractual risk transfer issues. Negotiate risk transfer terms and conditions. Review, revise and negotiate Intergovernmental Agreements, P3 agreements, JPA agreements, third-party contracts, and vendor contracts. Conduct high level contractual reviews and analysis to produce complex reports and matrix. Ensure compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes and the Arizona Administrative Code.  

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge in:

  • Risk Management concepts and techniques appropriate to assignment
  • Local and national insurance industry standards, concepts, and practices and procedures (such as underwriting and contract scheme)
  • Multiple lines of insurance (such as general loss, auto, worker’s compensation, etc.)

Skills in:

  • Relevant computer operations and programs
  • Identifying possible misleading, ambiguous and/or deceptive language on contracts, endorsements, certificates, or other business documents
  • Evaluation of risk exposure and identifying appropriate types and limits of insurance coverage to eliminate or minimize financial risk to the state
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution

Ability to:

  • Apply state and federal insurance law, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and case law appropriate to assignment
  • Apply insurance industry concepts and techniques
  • Work independently
  • Share knowledge, collaborate with peers, and work as part of the team

 

 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Bachelor degree in business, insurance or other related field and/or CPCU, ARM or other relevant professional designation.

Minimum of 1 year related experience. 

 PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.  Candidates for this position must complete and sign PART 1 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.  Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
