JOB SUMMARY

 

The Registrar of Contractors (ROC) Compliance Department investigates complaints against licensed contractors and allegations of contracting without a license.  Along with investigations, the department provides education to the public, supports unlicensed entities becoming licensed, and assists prosecutors throughout the State in pursuing charges such as fraud and criminal intent as it relates to the construction industry.  The Compliance Department work is at the very heart of the mission of the agency to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.  The work of the Compliance Department is interesting and provides an important protection to the citizens of Arizona.

 

The Compliance Research and Project Specialist is an important position within the department.  Using applicable laws and statutes, this position researches companies or persons who are advertising for construction services online and determines if they are properly licensed for the type of work being advertised.  The position works in the Phoenix office and will report to a Compliance Assistant Chief.

 

Job Duties include:

 

-  Conduct research on the Internet to find:

   -  Unlicensed entities advertising services that require a license

   -  Licensed entities advertising services that are not covered by their license. 

-  Contact entities (via phone or in writing) not in compliance with the law and issue

    warning documents as needed.

-  Document and track entities that receive warnings. 

-  Prepare case files when a formal investigation is required and coordinate with

   ROC Investigators as needed.

-  Compile department statistics and metrics as needed by the department leadership

   team. 

-  Create reports and other documentation for internal and external use.

-  May testify in criminal court or administrative hearings.   

-  Other project work as assigned.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Training:

 

-  1-3 years experience in an office setting

     (A higher educational degree can be used to meet this preference.)

-  Proficient with the Internet, social media sites, job posting sites, and online research

-  Proficient with computers and standard office programs such as MS Office and Google

-  Experience working independently

-  Experience tracking data/information and generating reports

-  Experience using Salesforce or case management software

-  Experience working in a government, regulatory, law enforcement, or legal environment
