The State of Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners is the regulatory body of the State of Arizona charged with protecting the health, welfare and safety of the public through the enforcement of the laws governing the practice of chiropractic.

The Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners is seeking an Executive Director to implement the Board's policies and procedures as well as the mission of the Board.

The Deputy Director (DD) is the Office, Business, Licensing, and HR Manager for the agency. The DD supervises administrative and licensing staff in the delivery of agency services and provides support to the Executive Director in a variety of areas including, but not limited to: agency administration, agency leadership, strategic initiatives and planning, project coordination, IT infrastructure management, HR support, staff training, Board meeting preparations, compliance with Board decisions, and Board Member training.


Licensing Manager Responsibilities:

·       Oversees licensing investigations and application discrepancies

·       Ensures timely processing of all applications for all agency-issued or -approved licenses, certifications, preceptorships, continuing education courses, chiropractic assistant training courses etc.

·       Ensures preparation and distribution of license and certificate indicia

·       Plans, prepares, and processes annual license renewals

·       Ensures accurate and timely logging of disciplinary and non-disciplinary actions in licensee's files, databases, spreadsheets, and with regulatory reporting agencies; Monitors/audits licensee probation

·       Monitors/audits preceptorship program.

Office/Business Manager Responsibilities:

·       Supervises administrative and licensing divisions staff

·       Manages agency finances for ED review

·       Manages agency IT infrastructure

·       Ensures Board meeting facilities, equipment, and support services are arranged

·       Approves Board member payment vouchers

·       Ensures compliance with public meeting laws

·       Ensures board meeting materials are complete and timely distributed

·       Ensures meeting minutes accuracy.

ED/HR Support Responsibilities:

·       Assists with oversight of all agency regulatory services

·       Conducts analysis of agency performance

·       Assists with agency policy and procedure development and documentation

·       Responsible for and/or assists with time entry/payroll, staff training, performance evaluations, hiring, leave requests, discipline, etc.; acts as the agency's chief, or assistant, in a variety of regulatory and oversight roles, e.g. ASET Liaison, Agency Security Contact, Records Officer etc.

·       Assists with development and administration of chiropractic jurisprudence examination; Leads special projects as directed.


Advance knowledge of:

·       Principles and practices of administration and management styles

·       Policies and standard operating procedures common to AZ state agencies

·       Fundamental financial accounting/bookkeeping

·       IT Infrastructure

·       Google Suite of productivity programs.

Strong skills in:

·       Analytical thought, e.g. SWOT and data analysis, and communicating conclusions

·       Research related to licensing and regulation

·       Attention to detail, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations

·       Managing multiple projects and other priorities concurrently

·       Developing  and implementing effective and efficient policies and procedures consistent with applicable laws, rules, and Board directives

·       Effective written and verbal communication

·       IT infrastructure management

·       Using the Google Suite of productivity programs

·       Financial accounts management: A/R, A/P and reconciliation; Effective design and use of data-bases, spreadsheets, etc.

·       Producing correspondence, documents, certificates, forms, spreadsheets, templates etc. Customer service and telephone etiquette

·       Document review and editing

·       Organizing physical and electronic workplaces

·       Understanding the limit of the position's authority.

High-level ability to:

·       Work collaboratively with a variety of personalities

·       Calmly, professionally, and effectively communicate with all stakeholders in stressful circumstances

·       Maintain ethical and agency standards in difficult and/or ambiguous circumstances

·       Competently locate, understand, interpret, and apply applicable regulations in a variety of circumstances

·       Keep information and individuals confidential; Analyze a situation, identify obstacles, and present options for appropriate action

·       Complete tasks with an attention to fine detail and precision

·       Lawfully, respond to public records requests

·       Develop direct reports.


·       Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 years occupational experience in a related field or 5 years occupational experience in a related position (e.g. Executive Assistant or Assistant Deputy Director)
