The Transportation Engineering Specialist coordinates prioritizes and reviews the work of R/W Plans consultants, in-house R/W plans staff and other project team members.

Additional duties include:

·         Ensures the timely, accurate and complete development of R/W Survey, plan documents, and specialized exhibits

·         Prioritizes and completes work relating to surveys, plans, exhibits, title data, legal descriptions, scopes of work, and disposals

·         Coordinates complex geometry calculations and develops RW plans and exhibits, as well as analytical and technical review of in-house staff and outside consultant prepared products and services

·         Ensures all technical reviews (survey, plans, exhibits, staking plans, RW documentation) are completed on time accurately and in compliance with all Federal and State statutes, regulations, policies and procedures and ADOT R/W standards

·         Performs computer applications, including database applications; to organize, update, maintain and track tasks and projects and to submit requests for required data and information

·         Conducts research, analyzes, and prepares reports and scopes of work for tasks by in-house staff and outside consultants as needed

·         Assists Department staff, consultants, local jurisdictions, engineering consultants, land surveyors, appraisers, attorneys, and the general public with the resolution of complex technical issues and problems relating to R/W products and services

·         Federal, State and local statutes, codes, guidelines, regulations and standards relative to R/W Plans and Surveys

·         Surveying, Land title and civil engineering

·         Appraisals concepts and practices

·         Acquisition concepts and practices

·         Relocation concepts and practices

·         Demolition concepts and practices

·         Condemnation concepts and practices

·         R/W Disposal concepts and practices

·         Excess Land Sales concepts and practices

The ideal candidate for this position will have;

·         Extensive coursework in surveying, civil engineering, or a closely related field

·         3 years’ experience at a senior transportation engineering technician level

·         Registration as a registered land surveyor in the State of Arizona

·         completion of 2 years of college or technical school and 3 years of progressively responsible land survey or technical Right of Way experience

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.  Candidates for this position must complete page 5 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.  Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
