JOB SUMMARY:

This position will ensure appropriate peer support is provided in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures for the Recovery Support Specialist Program (RW).

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Travels to facilities/institutions to provide recovery support trainings

-          Maintains and monitors tracking systems of services rendered

-          Coordinates with staff, community agencies, contracted mental health providers and sponsoring agency to ensure peer support services are provided and maintained

-          Attends meeting and completes special projects as assigned  

-          Drives on state business

-          Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S) – THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED:

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Addiction treatment practices and protocol for peer support services

-          Adult learning processes

-          Arizona Department of Corrections (ADCRR) policies and procedures

-          Coordination of people and resources

-          Security practices

-          Personal computer and various software programs

-          Business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation

Skill in:

-          Verbal and written communications

-          Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships

-          Group presentations

-          Organization and time management

-          Active listening

-          Collecting and maintaining accurate data/documentation and clinical records

-          Clinical record documentation

Ability to:

-          Plan, organize and coordinate execution of training in a group meeting

-          Interact with a diverse group of people

-          Contribute to others recovery skill sets through mentoring

-          Deliver program curriculum to inmate participants in a classroom environment

-          Interact professionally with staff, inmates and the public

-          Work in a secure prison/correctional environment

-          Collect and maintain data

-          Work independently with minimal supervision

-          Maintain accurate documentation and reports

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S) - IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

-          Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist

-          Certified in state of Arizona as a Recovery Support Specialist

-          Knowledge of ADCRR policies

-          One (1) year experience of program coordination

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a drug test*.

RETIREMENT: 

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
