JOB SUMMARY

 

The primary responsibilities of the Transportation Construction Tech 3 under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer at the Constructions Org include:

 

·         Performing a variety of office duties from, operating multi-line phone, filing, provide administrative support for the internal and external customers, purchasing supplies through the APPs System

·         Completing weekly time reports, use Pen IV system to complete dally diaries and pay quantities; use Fast system to monitor project budgets and generate monthly estimates

·         Reviewing construction plans, specifications and documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements

·         Maintaining projects files, preparing pay estimates for contractors and Resident Engineer, completing minor alterations, force accounts, checking certified payroll, letter of agreements, preparing and completing project close-outs

·         Reviewing construction plans, specifications and documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements

·         Preparing project related documentation to ensure conformance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and standards

·          

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

·         Principles and practices of civil engineering related to the construction of state highway road systems

·         Construction inspections methods, procedures, and techniques

·         Construction materials testing procedure

·         ADOT policies and procedures related to procurement

·         Various computer programs and system as related to office work and highway construction

 

Skills in:

 

·         Written and verbal communication

·         Analysis and preparation of data

·         Organizing and prioritizing work assignments

·         Operation of equipment for completion of assigned duties

 

Ability to:

 

·         Plan, coordinate, analyze, establish priorities and perform tasks.

·         Safely operate a State owned vehicle.

·         Complete assignments to acceptable standards of accuracy and timeliness

·         Problem solve

 

  PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate for this position will have;

·         Experience with ADOT Procure AZ, High School Diploma or GED

·         Experience in administrative or advance engineering construction record maintenance; construction plan and specification review

 PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.  Candidates for this position must complete page 5 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.  Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
