Job Summary:  The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities has an excellent opportunity for a Habilitation Nurse 2, based out of our Arizona Training Program at Coolidge. This position will be ideal for a highly motivated and compassionate individual who can provide specialized nursing care for individuals with developmental disabilities requiring regular nursing care. This position also provides specialized medical support to staff and completes required charting, reporting, and recommending health care plans.

 

Job Duties:

·        Assesses health needs and completes a nursing assessment of members with developmental disabilities; makes nursing diagnosis and submits to designated departments.

·        Participates in fact findings related medical issues; completes monitoring of medical care; monitors medical administration systems; provides feedback.

·        Notes orders and prepares reports for basic care, nursing assessments, and Individual Service Plans (ISPs).

·        Completes utilization review on caseload and documents on-going medical needs; submits to designated department; discharge and admission planning.

·        Other duties as assigned, as related to the position

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/Qualifications/Requirements:

·        Knowledge in 1) Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) and State Licensing requirements, 2) Member condition and medical/physical changing care needs, 3) Agency and Division State-Operated Services policy and procedures.

·        Skilled in 1) Providing appropriate treatment in emergency situations, 2) Making sound medical decisions, 3) Developing, analyzing, and implementing treatment care plans.

·        Ability to 1) Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies, 2) Make independent decisions regarding member health concerns, 3) Work with professional and non-professional staff to ensure health and safety of residents.

·        Required at time of appointment: possession of a current license or temporary permit to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona. Within six (6) months from date of hire, must possess of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona.

·        Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.

·        Arizona Level 1 Clearance Card is required

·        In-state travel is required

·        Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
