Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery

The mission of the Board is to protect the public by setting educational and training standards for licensure, and by reviewing complaints made against osteopathic physicians, interns, and residents to ensure that their conduct meets the standards of the profession, as defined in law (A.R.S. § 32-1854).

JOB SUMMARY:

Position will investigate and provide reports to the Board regarding allegations against osteopathic physicians of possible professional conduct violations, to include but not limited to sensitive issues such as substance abuse, criminal charges and sexual misconduct.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Conducts investigations of possible violations of medical practice act

·       Prepares reports of the investigative findings for the Board

·       Coordinates with obtaining Information from other organizations such as DEA and the AZ Pharmacy Board

·       Prepares for and presents case information to the Board at Board meetings and if needed, the Office of Administrative Hearings

·       Responds to licensees and complainants re: the status of complaints

·       Other duties as assigned as related to the position

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

The ideal candidate will possess:

Knowledge:

·       Investigation techniques and Interviewing of witnesses

·       State statutes and rules

·       Basic computer usage

 

Skill:

·       Interpreting and applying statutes and rules

·       Presentation of cases to board and courts

·       Excellent written and oral skills

·       Good time management

 

Ability:

·       Conduct, plan, prioritize and coordinate investigations

·       Operate computer systems and manage data

·       Able to work alone or in a team environment

SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):

PREFERRED:

·       Law Enforcement experience

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

·       Employment will be contingent on successful completion of a background check

Driving Requirements: 

·       Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

·       Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment

RETIREMENT: 

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
