The Department of Economic Security (DES), Division of Business and Finance, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as Building Maintenance Specialist with the Office of Facilities Management. Under the direction of the Physical Plant Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Specialist performs a wide variety of skilled preventive maintenance and repair of DES facilities statewide, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, minor electrical repairs, assist with replacement of HVAC systems, order necessary material and supplies, and participate in training related to job-site safety. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws, rules and local building codes. - Knowledge of preventive maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction methods and practices. - Knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and sketches. - Knowledge of work evaluation techniques and equipment to complete the assigned repair and maintenance required. - Skill in analyzing and determining proper use, maintenance and security of tools, equipment and materials. - Skill in interpreting, applying and adhering to Federal, State and local laws and rules. - Skill in applying and demonstrating generalized preventive maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction methods and practices. - Skill in oral and written communications and interpersonal relationships. - Ability to provide general maintenance, repair and new construction of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. - Ability to manage interruptions, adapt to new tasks and satisfactorily investigate, resolve, and return and re-engage to complete the previously assigned task. |

Licenses and Certifications: - Travel will be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record in accordance with DES Fleet Management-Safety Program policy and procedures (DES 1-07-26 & DES 1-07-26-01). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed. |

Qualifications: - Prefer two years of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician of which one year was in the specialty appropriate to the assignment; or four years of full-time experience in the specialty appropriate to the assignment. Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted. - A medical/physical evaluation is required prior to appointment. - Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees - Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions. |
