OFFICE OF THE ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Child and Family Protection Division/Child Support Services Section is seeking a Paralegal to provide support for one or more Assistant Attorneys General.  The duties may include, but are not limited to assessing and preparing case files for court hearings, assisting in trial preparation and document management, conducting and drafting stipulations with the parties, following through with post-hearing work and responding to inquiries from the court, client agency and public. The Paralegal performs legal and case-related research, drafts legal memoranda and performs additional tasks as assigned by supervising personnel. The Paralegal complies with all laws, rules, office policies and procedures applicable to the performance of the job.  Duties involve reviewing, creating and processing materials and information confidential by Federal and State Laws.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge needed:

·       Understanding of applicable statues, rules and regulations of state and federal courts.

·       Legal research techniques, terminology, forms, court procedures and applicable time frames in general.

·       Family court and federal rules and regulations regarding to child support.

·       Principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to a modern law office.

 

Skills needed:

·       Written and oral communication

·       Interacting with the public

·       Coordinating legal requests, inquires and responses expeditiously.

·       Conducting and controlling interviews with parties involved in legal actions.

 

Abilities needed:

·       Appropriately incorporate all current state laws, rules and regulations and agency and in-office procedures as well as rules of court.

·       Analyze situations and use good judgment in making decisions.

·       Independently identify issues and prepare concise analysis of case files and legal documentation, incorporating all facts obtained in a thorough orderly but concise manner.

·       Prepare legal pleadings and correspondence.

·       Interact with and obtain information from litigants, court officials and representatives of state agencies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The preferred candidate will have 2 years of full- time employment as a paralegal; or a paralegal certification through an institutionally accredited program and 1 year of full- time employment as a paralegal.
