The person in this position requires strong technical skills and must be able to perform a variety of duties necessary to ensure the reliability of database systems at Department of Economic Security. It requires the ability and willingness to maintain emerging technology and database trends through self-study and state sponsored training. This person reviews and recommends improvements to existing architectures, reviews and recommends improvements to existing data sources, helps implement data management best practices in achieving and maintaining high data maturity standards. Hands on working experience with MS SQL Server - DQS MDS, Tableau, Big Data techniques and technologies both on-premise and cloud based is expected. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General working knowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc. General working knowledge of normalized and dimensional modeling techniques Knowledge of various Industry standards for data capture, transmission, consumption and reporting Knowledge of Data Management and Data Quality including Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) SQL Database certifications, Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications, ETL Certifications, Data Warehouse certifications or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) Strong customer service skills Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams and across organizations Demonstrated ability to synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships inside and outside the organization Demonstrated ability to develop and write technical documentation Demonstrated ability to write complex scripts for purposes of analyzing data and/or evaluating how information needs might be translated into back end database structures Demonstrated ability to evaluate and test emerging technologies Demonstrated ability to work with data modeling repository server environment and maintain model versions/model objects which may be common to several distinct application development efforts |

Licenses and Certifications: - Arizona Level 1 Clearance Card - If the position is required to drive on state business, the position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). |

Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree or 5 or more years of experience in database administration (or equivalent experience)
- Prefer Certifications related to Data Management and Data Quality including Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) SQL Database certifications - Prefer Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications, ETL Certifications, Data Warehouse certifications or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is a plus - Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees. - Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions. - Travel will be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record in accordance with DES Fleet Management-Safety Program policy and procedures (DES 1-07-26 & DES 1-07-26-01). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed. |
