JOB SUMMARY

This Position is Open Only to Current ADOT Employees

 

The Transportation Construction Tech 3 Serves as a construction technician under the direction of the Engineer-in-Charge or designated representative. Inspects and documents contract Items, such as traffic control, structures and concrete or asphalt pavement, and performs related duties as necessary due to staffing requirements. Other duties include;

 

·         Perform construction project inspection, survey, documentation and testing as required for the area of assignment

·         Consults with project team to identify issues on conflict in the field, documents for project management. Operate a state vehicle to and from job site

·         Document and verify calculations, measurements and documentation related to area of assignment

·         Review and understand construction plans, specifications and documentation related to assigned project to ensure compliance from contractor and subcontractors activities

 

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

·         Principles and practices of civil engineering related to the construction of the state highway system

·         Construction inspection methods, procedures, techniques, construction survey and materials testing, project-related contracts, plans, specification, documentation, verification and review, agency procedures, policies and practices

·         Federal, State and agency standards

·         Approved record-keeping and documentation

·         Materials and equipment used for highway construction and materials testing purposes

Skills in:

 

·         Analysis and preparation of data

·         Oral and written communication Work scheduling

·         Reading and Interpretation of plans and specifications

·         Technical Math

 

Ability to:

·         Operate and maintain equipment for completion of assigned duties and management

·         Training of others

·         Safely operate a state vehicle

  PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate for this position will have;

High School Diploma or GED and experience in inspecting minor highway construction projects, performing administrative, engineering and construction records maintenance or related duties. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, or a closely related profession may substitute for required experience

Ability to obtain ATTI and ACI Certification within a year of hire date

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.  Candidates for this position must complete page 5 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.  Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
