The Department of Economic Security, Office of Inspector General, Internal Audit Administration, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Auditor 3.  

 

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of - accounting and auditing theory, methods and systems, of general auditing standards and procedures and have analytical principles and practices of auditing and accounting.  This person should be skilled in applying auditing and accounting methods and techniques as well as applying and interpreting federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as they pertain to program operations/activities.  In addition, the selected candidate must have the ability to accurately complete and assemble audit working papers and comprehend and carry out complex accounting, auditing, and fiscal procedures.

 

Furthermore, preference will be given to those candidates with a Bachelor Degree in either accounting, business, finance, business or public administration or a related field and two years of experience in professional level auditing, accounting, budgeting, or related field; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities are achieved.

 

The position will be responsible for conducting highly complex audits of programs for compliance, fiscal, and provider audits. Performs audits in a professional manner and in accordance with the approved audit program. This includes preparation of audit programs and work papers, conducting fieldwork, identify findings and advises on requirements, liabilities and penalties of compliance and non-compliance. May perform in a lead capacity on projects or special assignments.  Works under limited supervision. May provide testimony at formal or informal hearings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

-          Federal and state laws, rules, and regulations as they pertain to program operations/activities

-          Applicable agency manuals and Arizona Revised Statutes

-          Software programs used for data analysis

-          Business practices in both public and private industry

Skill In:

-          Applying program policy and contract requirements to contracted provider activities

-          Establishing and maintaining effective relationships

-          Analyzing complex situations and adopting an effective course of action, in conducting several projects simultaneously

-          Expressing ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

-          Using computerized products, such as Excel and Access, for analysis and work management

-          Project report writing

Ability to:

-          Applying program policy and contract requirements to contracted provider activities

-          Establishing and maintaining effective relationships

-          In analyzing complex situations and adopting an effective course of action, in conducting several projects simultaneously

Licenses and Certifications:

In-state travel may be required for State business.  Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required prior to driving for State Business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed. 

Qualifications:

The ideal/preferred candidate will possess the following:

-          Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities are achieved.
