LOCATION

1200 E. ROUTE 66, WILLIAMS, AZ

This series exists to provide and preserve a safe andefficient transportation system for the traveling public as well as beingcourteous, considerate and prompt in dealing with and serving the public.

Note: Positions will be assignedbased off of experience and qualifications listed below.

 

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Highway Operations Worker: $15.38Grade 13


HighwayOperations Worker is the entry level position for the Highway OperationsTechnician series. The scope of the duties and basic tasks to be learnedinclude; operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care, andpreservation, landscape care and preservation, roadside shoulder restorationand repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipment and materials,environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.


Requirement:


?      Employeesmust obtain their Arizona CDL (Class “A”) permit within 90 days from the dateof hire and a Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) for a manualtransmission (no automatic only restriction) is required within 6 months ofhire. 

?      Registration with the FMCSADrug & Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) is a requirement for all CDLholder’s.  Once a Class A permit is obtained, the selected employee willbe required to register and authorize ADOT to conduct limited queries on theirCDL for the duration of their employment.  Register by visiting https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/Register

?      Thisposition responds to emergency call outs (24 hours a day, seven days a week);must be able to respond to Maintenance yard within 30 minutes. 

 

Physical Demands: 

?      Dependingon the work location and assignment, positions allocated to this classificationcan encounter extremes of cold and heat, considerable time away from home base,rugged terrain, and high speed traffic conditions.

?      Thisposition requires one to lift/carry – push/pull 50 lbs.

 

The preferred candidate for thisposition will have: 6 months of Roadway/Highwayjob related experience as determined by the assigned area’s needs which mayinclude operating motorized vehicles and heavy-duty equipment and maintenance,signing/striping of roadways, pavement care and preservation, roadwayoperations, tunnel maintenance, or landscape care and preservation.

 

Highway Operations Tech 1: $17.30/hr.Grade 17


HighwayOperations Tech 1 is the apprentice classification for the series. Will betrained to perform more advanced duties which include; operation of motorizedvehicles and equipment, pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation,roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery ofequipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.


Requirements:


?      AnArizona Class “A” Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) for a manual transmission(no automatic only restriction) and a (N) tanker endorsement is required priorto the start date. Based on the assigned area additional endorsements may berequired.

?      Registrationwith the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) is a requirementfor all CDL holder’s.  Selected candidates will be required to registerand authorize ADOT to conduct limited queries on their CDL for the duration oftheir employment in order to be considered for this role.  Register byvisiting https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/Register

Highway Operations Tech 2: $18.99/hr.Grade 18


HighwayOperations Tech 2 is the entry journey classification for the series.  Responsible for performing a broad scope ofintermediate level highway operational duties and/or lead responsibilities.Some duties and basic tasks include; operation of motorized vehicles andequipment, pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation,roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery ofequipment and materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.

In thisseries the employee will also take on the duties of  scheduling, assigning, and overseeingsubordinates work, inspecting work, training, and guiding staff in dutiesmentioned above for the series.


Requirement:

Highway Operations Tech 3: $20.67/hr.Grade 19

HighwayOperations Tech 3 is the full journey classification for the series.  Responsibility for performing a broad scopeof high level highway operation duties and/or supervisor responsibilities. Someduties and basic tasks include; operation of motorized vehicles and equipment,pavement care and preservation, landscape care and preservation, roadsideshoulder restoration and repairs, signing and striping, delivery of equipmentand materials, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.

In thisseries the employee will also take on the duties of  scheduling, assigning, and overseeingsubordinates work, inspecting work, training, and guiding staff in dutiesmentioned above for the series.

Thisposition requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete page 5 of the State of ArizonaApplication for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT toobtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR).  The most recent39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C.R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I).  The review must show an acceptable drivingrecord prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT.  Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR and passing a physicalscreening.
