Job Summary:  The Department of Economic Security Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Nursing Manager. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Nurse Case Management Program consisting of nurses reporting directly to this position. This position monitors program performance to assure conformance with rules and regulations per Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and Division policy. The program services include health care monitoring with a focus on preventative health care, health education, and discharge planning. This position reviews and responds to member complaints, grievances, and unusual incident reports (UIR) as related to Health Care Services (HCS).

 

Job Duties:

·       Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates a system that provides for community nursing support to developmentally disabled members; assists in development of policy and procedure of program; assumes regional nursing responsibility for District

·       Assigns caseloads, monitors work activities, nursing assessments, skilled nursing hours, conducts meetings, and provides assistance in resolving conflicts; responsible for recruitment, hiring, retention, and evaluation of work performance of employees; conducts training seminars and statewide nurse meetings

·       Provides health education to staff and telephone triage or on-site in the community for acute problems; responsible for team building and coordination of work between Support Coordinators, Nurses, and other community partners

·       Provide medical assistance and attend District meetings as needed

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/Qualifications/Requirements:

·       Knowledge in 1) Developmentally disabled nursing theory and practice; 2) Community health care service and resources; 3) Department of Economic Security, Developmental Disabilities policies, AHCCCS rules, health plan regulations, 42-Code of Federal Regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes; 4) All aspects of health care management

·       Skilled in 1) Primary skills acquired during formal nursing education; 2) Management, supervision, and teaching; 3 Oral and written communication; 4) Group facilitation and team building; 5) Conflict resolution

·       Ability to 1) Be assertive and accountable for own actions; 2) Self-managed and organized; 3) Responsive; 4) Proactive and solution-oriented

·       Candidate is required at time of appointment: possession of current license or temporary permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona; within six (6) months from date of hire, candidate must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona

·       Requires a valid State-issued driver’s license

·       Arizona Level 1 Clearance Card is required

·       Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804

·       Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired state employees

·       Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions
