JOB SUMMARY

This position will perform individual and group therapies and participate in resident treatment groups which will include screening, interviewing, needs assessment, evaluation and recording data, risk assessments, case presentation and staffing, emergency interventions, developing treatment plans, setting goals and objectives, designing programs, and  implementation and evaluation of such plans.

 

What will I be doing in this job?

-         Providing psychological treatment and counseling (individual and group), conducts psychological evaluations and risk assessments; develops, implements and evaluates resident programs and accurate documentation for adult male sex offender population

-         Participating in clinical treatment planning for residents

-         Conducting research in areas of mental health, sex offender treatment, recidivism, psychology and special needs of resident population; presents case study reviews to members of psychology staff; works with professionals from outside agencies in joint treatment efforts

-         Develops and maintains psychological program resident files including treatment plans, progress reports, and case summaries; prepares periodic statistical reports

 

What does this job require?

-         Must have a Master’s degree or two years full –time graduate work toward a doctoral degree in psychology, educational psychology, counseling psychology or other recognized area of psychology and possess directly related work experience

-         Knowledge of techniques and procedures for psychological counseling and therapy, including that for adult male sex offender populations; psychological screening, testing and evaluations; contemporary thoughts and trends in psychology, sociology and mental health; knowledge of research methods and techniques to Include data analysis and psychological measurements; and report writing

-         Skills in providing psychological treatment and counseling to individuals and groups, including that for sex offender populations; skills In oral and written communication; case management; interpersonal relations; and report writing

-         Ability to administer and score a variety of psychological tests accurately and effectively; write summaries and reports of professional quality; and perform counseling and therapy services with individuals and groups, including that for sex offender populations

-         Performance management (PM) model and continuous quality improvement (CQI) methods in a public health setting

-         Supporting a diverse multi-cultural workforce that reflects the community, promotes equal opportunity at all levels of ADHS, and creates an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination

 

Qualifications?

The ideal candidate will have a:

-         Preferred candidate will Licensed as a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE). The preferred candidate will have experience working in a residential treatment program and/or experience working with sex-offender history and/or proficiency in the use and interpretation of Penile Plethysmography (PPG) testing

-         Preference will be given to candidates with prior Public Health experience

 

Licenses and Certifications?

-         A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1758.07.

 

-         Driving is required for State Business.

-         Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
