JOB SUMMARY:

The SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for the DCS data warehouse, SQL process and application database needs. This position will manage the architecture, development, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of the data warehouse, including appropriate policy, retention, SQL, and documentation.

 

This position will design, develop, and implement SQL codes and support production SQL bug fixes. This position also requires experience with EDW, DW, and OLAP.  Additionally, this position will design and create data models and data warehousing and related BI functions as well as design, build, and deploy successful SSIS packages.

JOB DUTIES: 

-          Solves problems, installs, monitors, and directs proactive and reactive measures   

-          Coordinates resolution of trouble calls with help desk, monitors and manages user accounts, and maintains database instances

-          Translates user's needs into a sound database design with tables and fields

-          Assists in developing purging and archiving criteria and procedures

-          Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company database(s)

-          Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process

-          Implements and reviews appropriate security guidelines

-          Develops, tests, and performs database migration procedures

-          All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

-          Physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc. 

-          Normalized and dimensional modeling techniques

-          Various industry standards for data capture, transmission, consumption, and reporting

 

Skill in:

-          Verbal and written communication 

-          Strong customer service

-          Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships

 

Ability to:

-          Balance, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks   

-          Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations

-          Synthesize feedback  and adjust plans accordingly

-          Build strong relationships inside and outside the organization

PRE EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

-          Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.

-           Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

-          Experience with EDW, DW, and OLAP as well as SQL and T-SQL    

-          BA/BS in Computer Science or related experience

-          5+ years of Data Architecture & Modeling experience with Data Warehouse/Data Marts/OLTP systems

-          5+ Years of experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

-          3+ years of relevant database development experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012 or higher
