The Arizona Department of Agriculture is currentlyrecruiting for a Programs Projects Specialist I position for the Dairy and EggPrograms within the Animal Services Division, the full time position is locatedin the Capital Mall area.

 

The Animal Services Division Dairy and Egg Programs conductsfood quality and safety inspections of milk and milk products produced andprocessed in Arizona, as well as egg and egg products produced in, or importedto Arizona. In addition, this division also protects and improves the health,quality, and marketability of Arizona animals and animal products byidentifying, diagnosing, and preventing existing and emerging diseases,protecting humans from contagious diseases, and responding to emergencies. Enforceslaws concerning the movement, sale, importation, transportation and processingof livestock.

 

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will perform a variety ofcomplex administrative tasks for the Program Managers; including research,assistance with budget tracking, ProcureAZ, and has the authority to interpretstatutes and rules pertaining to the Egg and Dairy Programs to answer questionsdirectly from the public. Will answer phones of the Program Managers and assistcustomers in their absences.  Performadministrative tasks for the Dairy and Egg Programs, including licensing,computer input and other administrative functions.  Write and send form letters to industry toinclude permits, license suspensions, and other documents.  Track chemical and microbiology informationand other test results from the State Agriculture Laboratory for the DairyProgram; post results via the computer and hard copies; and notify the ProgramManager when violation results are received. Document dairy inspection results and equipment tests in paper andcomputer ledgers.  Maintain a databasefor dairy farm permits. Responsible for indirect and direct billing of the eggindustry for inspections and grading services provided. Track and depositrevenue.  Work directly with federalstaff on billing and reimbursement issues for the federal program. Issuequarterly inspection fee letters and follow-up correspondence. Responsible forreceiving egg inspection fees and deposits. Compose correspondence on a varietyof issues and responses. 

 

This position will cross train with the other AnimalServices Division support staff.  Opendaily divisional mail and route to appropriate employees in the division.  You will be required to drive a state vehiclefor state business and other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S):

Requires possession of and the ability to retain acurrent Arizona driver’s license.

Employees who drive on state business are subject todriver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving record andmust complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative CodeR2-10-207.12).
