JOB SUMMARY:

The Child Abuse Hotline is a 24/7 call center. Shifts can vary depending upon call center needs and can include night and weekend coverage. Will be required to work holidays.

 

Applicants must be adaptable and flexible with availability and scheduling.

JOB DUTIES: 

Department of Child Safety (DCS) Specialist Trainee - $34,978.11*

 

*Applicant possessing previous experience as a DCS Specialist in Arizona or another state may be placed a higher salary as determined by Human Resources

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for answering incoming calls to the Child Abuse Hotline by individuals expressing concerns about the welfare of children living in Arizona; duties include, but are not limited to conducting comprehensive interviews with customers by asking designated interview questions and obtaining pertinent information and determining if information gathered meets the legal criteria for abuse/neglect; determining the appropriate response time to ensure child safety; writes professional reports and other documentation, and other duties as needed.

Requires Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, OR Five (5) years of experience as a DCS Case Aide II in Arizona state service.

DCS Specialist  - Promotion after successful completion as a DCS Specialist Trainee--$38,665.12

 

*After one year of service as a DCS Specialist, salary will be increased to $42,673.07 if employee is meeting expectations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

-          The ideal candidate will possess computer experience, which includes Windows applications, and excellent writing skills.

-          Requires Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, OR Five (5) years of experience as a DCS Case Aide II in Arizona state service.

 

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

-          Subject to a search of the Department of Child Safety Central Registry and maintain clearance throughout employment

-          Required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DCS requirements for a Level One card

-          Must pass an oral interview and writing exam

-          Favorable background and employment reference checks
