The Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) is currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated IT professional for the position of Systems/Network Engineer located in Phoenix, Arizona.  Reporting to the IT Operations Manager this position will be responsible for all aspects of IT Operations and Infrastructure.  Duties include, but are not limited to installation, architecture, design, development, testing, maintenance and ongoing management of the IT infrastructure.



  • Administers the full range of disciplines including but not limited to backups, multi-site replication, virtualization technologies, Server OS administration, System and Network Security, VoIP and SAN technology.
  • Provides guidance, assistance, training and educations to staff including but not limited to phone system, computer systems, document imaging system, office productivity applications and peripheral devices.
  • Supports a variety of in-house and third party applications.  Additionally supporting hardware including Dell, HP and Cisco.  This includes communication with end users as well as hardware vendors.
  • Reviews configuration change proposals for compliance to established standards, guidelines and policies.
  • Implements updates to technology and implementing new technologies.
  • Performs system analysis, designs, constructs and tests infrastructure.
  • Project management for implementing updates to technology and installing new technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills andAbilities):

Knowledge of:

  • Thorough working knowledge of various infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications utilized in the enterprise.
  • Expert understanding of proper IT troubleshooting techniques.
  • Architecting, designing, constructing, installing and maintaining all listed technologies and concepts.
  • Principles of business system analysis, including analysis of policies, procedures and process.
  • IT Operations best practices including problem resolution, security and support.
  • Enterprise virtualization infrastructure and concepts.
  • Enterprise email systems concepts and administration.
  • Server and desktop configuration management.
  • Project management techniques used in the enterprise computing environment.
  • Windows Server environment including Active Directory advanced concepts (i.e. multi-site topology, GPR, etc.).
  • Thorough knowledge of SAN infrastructure and concepts.
  • Backup systems and methodologies.

Skill in:

  • Expert troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication.
  • Project management.
  • Learning new technological trends and applying them to current business practices.
Ability to:

  • Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.

  • Perform advanced design, maintenance and repair of IT systems.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or closely related discipline with a least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prefer minimum of 5 years of experience with Windows Server environments, Enterprise Virtualization, Server/Desktop configuration management, SAN infrastructure, and backup methodologies.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Information Security concepts and software, Cloud Systems Integration, Cisco networking or Cisco VoIP a plus.
  • Any of the following certifications are also a plus; MCP, MCSA, MCSE, VCP, CCNA/P.
