The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a highly experienced network leader to fill the role of Operations Manager.  This position’s key responsibilities include, leading two (2) direct report leadership teams and Twelve (12) support staff.  This includes all Information and technology equipment (computers, network equipment, telecommunications, video cameras, inmate TV, and inmate’s phones) that require constant operation.


-          Strategically manage network operations

-          Manages client technologies, servers, capacity planning, office expansions; the installation, configuration, testing and monitoring of various types of systems and hardware for departmental and multi-departmental LAN/WAN systems

-          Conducts diagnostic tests on prison complex hardware, cabling and software

-          Follows and provides feedback on hardware, software systems, and network specifications

-          Manages the installation and configuration of systems peripherals, such as disk sub-systems, tape backup systems, network interface boards, video conferencing technologies, power backup systems and other related systems and peripherals

-          Analyzes and helps to resolve complicated operating problems to optimize network performances

-          Stays abreast of new technologies and emerging trends

-          Provides effective recommendations concerning LAN/WAN strategies, system acquisitions, enhancements, and upgrades

-          Oversees, defines, and monitors critical path activities; resolves and escalates issue(s) when appropriate to the Deputy Chief Information Officer and/or Chief Information Officer as needed

-          Provides clear status updates to the project team, business, and management for complex projects

-          Supervises staff, evaluates subordinates’ work and addresses various personnel issues

-          Assists the Chief Information Officer and executive management on IT strategic direction to include offering solutions to ongoing needs of the organization

-          Trains department users and provides technical assistance as needed


-          Drives on State business with the possibility overnight stay

-          Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment



Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

-          Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or Business

-          Two or more certifications: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)


Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
