JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Psychiatric Nurse unit Manager (PNUM) this position will provide operational support to various units.  The position will be responsible for ordering and researching all commodities for the units and patients. Update and monitor databases and/or spreadsheets that track purchase requisitions and invoices. Maintaining unit budget with monthly status reports to the PNUM. Oversees the cleanliness and organization of the treatment rooms, negative pressure/ante room, laundry room, mail room, supply rooms and patient dorm rooms. Responsible for monitoring unit compliance with regulatory agency and infection control standards. Responsible for maintaining accurate and orderly files. Maintains policy and protocol manuals. May also conduct audits and other operational duties pertaining to the units. 

 

What will I be doing in this job?

-       Managing the stock rooms with ensuring delivery of supplies, putting supplies away, checking for expiration dates when stocking, maintaining PAR levels and returning unused supplies, as well as  office equipment.

-      Prepares, submits and follows-up on work orders for facility and unit renovations, repair and maintenance requirements. Create and maintain regular status reports to PNUM and the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) regarding issues.

 

What does this job require?

-      Knowledge of unit operations, maintenance requests, infection control, safety, confidentiality, customer service, policies and procedures, health records, procurement, basic budgetary processes and regulatory requirements.

-      Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.

-      Skill in performance improvement projects

-      Preparing work order requests; analyzing, coordinating, organizing and planning effectively; oral and written communication skills

-       Skills in performing reliable operational audits and report preparation.

-       Abilities to analyze data, works with little supervision to make decisions, effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, writes reports, manages times, tracks expenditures and prioritizes workload. Ability in identifying and correcting environmental deficiencies.

-       Support a diverse multi-cultural workforce that reflects the community, promotes equal opportunity at all levels of public employment, and creates an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination.

 

Qualifications?

The ideal candidate will have:

-         Two (2) years’ experience operational support in a hospital or a behavioral health setting.

-         Bachelor's degree in health related field is preferred but not required.

 

Licenses and Certifications?

-         A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1758.07.

 

Driving is required for State Business.

-         Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.  Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
