The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Complex Care Nursing Manager. This position is responsible for:

·        Planning, organizing, and directing clinical staff who are responsible for the operational activities of the Case Management Department; assigning caseloads, monitoring work activities, nursing assessments, skilled nursing hours; conducting meetings and providing assistance in resolving conflicts; responsible for recruitment, assuring appropriate staffing, hiring, retention, and evaluation of work performance of staff

·        Developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating system that provides for community nursing support to members with Developmental Disabilities; assisting in programmatic development of policy and procedures;  providing oversight and care to ensure it's dependable, member-centric, and of high-quality; interpreting data and identifies trends with Division members, making recommendations for system improvements and service needs

·        Ensuring staff is performing appropriate, comprehensive assessments of members physical, mental, and long- term needs to develop appropriate care plans for prevention, outcome improvement, decrease risk status, and increase self-care opportunities; providing assistance and support to members/families in crisis directly or through participation w/the interdisciplinary team; identifies and resolves problems timely and appropriately

·        Ensuring staff is knowledgeable on how to access and coordinating care for medically and behaviorally complex members, which requires a strong foundation in behavioral strategies; partnering with the behavioral unit and teams; and being knowledgeable about laws as it pertains to those with disabilities and  resources to contribute to placement team meetings that will be in the least restrictive and safest setting

·        Providing education to all levels of staff, attending meetings with staff, members/families, service providers and others as required; responsible for team building and coordination of work between unit staff; attending Statewide supervisor meetings, conducting training seminars and Statewide nurses meetings; developing proper tracking metrics, compiles and reports metrics to manager


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·        Knowledge in comprehensive knowledge of developmentally disabled nursing theory and practice

·        Knowledge in case management concepts, principles, and strategies

·        Knowledge in community health care services & resources

·        Knowledge in Nursing theories and practices related to individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health conditions

·        Knowledge in DES/DDD policies, AHCCCS rules, health plan regulations, 42-Code of Federal Regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes

·        Knowledge in all aspects of health care management

·        Primary skills acquired during formal nursing education

·        Skills in management, supervision, and teaching

·        Oral and written communication skills

·        Skills in group facilitation and team building

·        Skills in conflict resolution

·        Skills in case management (interviewing, advocacy, collaboration)

·        Ability to be assertive and accountable for own actions

·        Ability to self-manage and be organized

·        Ability to be responsive

·        Ability to be proactive and solution-oriented


Licenses and Certifications:

·        The candidate will be required at time of appointment: possession of a current license or temporary permit to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona, within six (6) months from date of hire, must possess of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona

·        Employment may be contingent upon completion of a post-offer medical/physical examination and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.  

·        Arizona Level 1 Clearance Card

·        Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804

·        Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.

·        Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

·        The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle.
